České Petrovice – village founded in the 16th century in the east of Orlické hory on land belonging to the Kyšperské estate.
The Orlička stream runs partially on both sides of the village, and turns left at Pastviny to flow into Divoké Orlice.
Its height above sea level is between 600 – 650 metres.
The average annual temperature is generally around 3.9°C.
As written in an old German book about the village of České Petrovice written by historian Josef Schubert.
Particularly worth seeing in this border region is Zemská brána, where you can admire (among other things) the stone bridge over the Divoká Orlici river in a picturesque rock-hemmed valley. You can also visit numerous military defences which will evoke wonder at how prepared our army was to defend the independence of our nation and its borders.
You can follow these defences from Králík to Rokytnice in Orlické hory. There are about 13 heavy concrete infantry defence huts in the village and many light defence buildings and garrisons. We can recommend the pleasant views from the ‘na Adamu’ cottage over the Klodsko lowlands (Poland), the Králický Sněžník mountains and the Kralický monastery, the lookout tower on Suchý vrch and when visibility is good, you can even see the television tower on Praděd. In summer, this is great walking country, České Petrovice is a hub of cycling routes, and those who enjoy picking mushrooms or fishing will have their hearts contented.
